I’m a Pacific Northwest USA native originally from Whidbey Island, Washington. Much of my creative work is influenced by experience and observation.
Over the years, I have worked as a firefighter, reporter, housekeeper, caregiver, veterinarian’s assistant, tree planter, gardener, gas station attendant, technical writer, cocktail waitress, and berry picker. My most curious on-the-job task: feeding pet meal worms for an elderly woman as part of my housekeeping duties. Most exciting: fighting wildfires across the west. Most rewarding: raising my sons.
I earned a bachelor’s degree in Journalism and English, and a master’s degree in communication from the University of Oregon.
I cover arts & culture, photography and travel internationally. I am a publicist for Lensbaby and on the communications team for Siena International Photography Awards in Siena, Italy. I’m also an essayist, poet & visual artist.
